Creating an Announcement

Only executives (Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer) can create announcements.
- Go to Notice Board (or Announcements) in the main navigation.
- Click New announcement.
- Fill in the form:
- Title — required. Short headline (e.g. "AGM reminder — 15 July 2026").
- Body — required. Full announcement text.
- Audience — who can see the announcement:
Option Visible to All members Everyone including lot owners (Viewer role) Committee only Committee members only (Ordinary and Executive) - Expires date and time — optional. When set, the announcement automatically transitions to Expired status at that date and time.
- Pin to top — tick to pin this announcement at the top of the notice board. Pinned announcements display a 📌 icon.
- Requires acknowledgement — tick to require members to acknowledge they have read it.
- Click Create draft.
The announcement is saved as a Draft. Publish it separately when you are ready for members to see it.
Drafts are not visible to members. Only the creating executive can see drafts before publishing.
Publishing and Expiring Announcements
From the announcement detail page:
- Click Publish to make the announcement visible to the selected audience.
- Click Expire to manually retire a published announcement before its set expiry date.
Unread Indicator
Published announcements that you have not yet read display a blue dot next to the title in the list. The dot disappears once you open and view the announcement.
Acknowledging Announcements
If the creating executive ticked Requires acknowledgement, members see an Acknowledge button when they open the announcement. Executives can view an acknowledgement summary showing who has and has not acknowledged.
Filtering the List
Use the status filter (Draft / Published / Expired) at the top right of the Notice Board to narrow the list. Executives see all statuses; regular members and Viewers see published announcements only.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a lot owner create an announcement? No. Only committee executives (Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer) can create and publish announcements.
Can I edit a published announcement? Not directly in v1. Expire the existing announcement and create a corrected one, noting the correction in the body.
What happens when an announcement expires? It moves to Expired status and is no longer shown on the dashboard, but remains accessible via the Notice Board list for historical reference.
Does pinning an announcement send a notification? Pinning does not send a separate email. Email notifications (if configured in your notification preferences) go out when an announcement is first published.
Can I target announcements to specific lots? Not in v1. The audience setting is scheme-wide: either All members or Committee only.
